How to Be in the Marketplace
The first step to finding and keeping a good black man is being in the marketplace. This is also known as being ready.
How do we achieve a state of readiness?
Act as if you could meet your future husband anywhere, at anytime.
So be ready.
This means looking good when you go out. Look good when you go out for dinner.
Look good when you go to the grocery store.
Look good when you go out with your friends
Look good when you go to the corner store for some milk.
Look good - all the time.
Anytime and any place are good meeting points for finding your man.
So, where do you look?
Contrary to popular opinion - the club is not the best place to find men. Scratch that, the club is an excellent place to find men. It is however, also a terrible place to meet men who you'd want to marry and who want to marry you.
Not to say there aren't marriages built every year with men we've met at the club, but that is definitely the exception and not the rule.
Men who hang in the clubs generally are looking to get laid, and are looking to leave it there.
So where should you be looking?
The best place to start when figuring out where to find the good men is with your passion.
Go where your passion is. Wherever that is, you will find good men, and possibly your husband.
Are you into dancing? Then go dancing.
Into sports? Join a co-ed team. I cannot tell you how many fine quality men I see playing co-ed softball and co-ed kickball (yes girls - they do play that) when I go for my walks on the weekends --o positively scores of them.
A great place to indulge your interests and met good men at the same time is through meetups. They have tons and tons of topics and events.
You will almost positively find some good men in the mix there.
If you are into music - go to concerts.
Into poetry - go to some poetry events.
These outings and events are the nooks and crannies where the good Black men are.
This is where you need to be.
